DIY: My Coconut Avocado Hair Smoothie!

Since I've been doing many wash and gos of late, I also find myself deep conditioning more frequently as well. This is one of my favorite DIY fresh hair smoothie concoctions that I love to use as either a pre-poo or pre-cowash treatment. Coconut milk and avocado are the primary ingredients - two things that I usually have on hand in my kitchen :)  And to that I also add in a few of my favorite oils! What I love about this particular hair smoothie mix is that it is really moisturising but also has a natural shot of protein from both the coconut milk and the avocado. That combination leaves my hair feeling awesome and my curls popping!   The mix I made in the video yields approximately 6oz of hair treatment, which is just enough for one full smoothie treatment for my length of hair. Because I used fresh and/or organic ingredients that may have a very limited shelf life, I prefer to only make as much as I need for one treatment in a single batch.

Coconut Milk (about 1/4 can) 
Organic virgin coconut oil (2 - 3 tsp) 
Avocado (half of one - I used the small Hass variation) 
Sweet Almond Oil with Vitamin E (about 2 - 3 tsp) 

About the mini immersion blender I used in the video: I picked up this nifty little immersion blender a few years ago on the cheap from TJ Maxx. I can't remember the brand of the one I have but you can find similar ones on amazon here:

  2. I really like your blog- the layout, content and, of course, the HAIR! My hair looks very similar though I'm high porosity and have to tread delicately when handling it. It's great to see a fine-strand natural incorporating so many styles into her regimen and ENJOYING her hair.
