Sanctuary.

A perfect morning for me starts with getting to sleep in a bit and then waking up to a bright, sunlit room. I am one of those people who loves a sunny room in the morning because I honestly feel like it helps set a happy mood for the rest of my day. I love the way that sunlight filters in through my windows and bounces off my bedding. When it comes to sheets, pillows, and the like - I always gravitate toward clean lines, whites and other soft neutrals as my primary color palette (my bed is pictured above). To me, its calming and it puts me at peace. The world outside my bedroom is often hectic and overstimulating and filled with news and deadlines and things to do. So I want my bedroom to be the exact opposite kind of place - to be my sanctuary away from it all. Though my color palette of choice is monochromatic, I like to add in some subtle visual interest by mixing together pillows and throws with different textures and patterns for a luxe hotel feel (I also make sure that at least one pillow is covered with a satin pillowcase somewhere in that mix so that my hair is happy too...lol).

On mornings when I don't have to get up and get ready for work - there's nothing better than lounging in bed curled up in my soft terry cloth robe (especially if its cold outside like it still is now!), sipping my English Breakfast Tea, and leafing through a fashion mag while on Instagram. That's the kind of multitasking I enjoy :)

Where is your sanctuary?

  1. Hmmm . . . something else we have in common. I love sunlight in the bedroom. I absolutely love to be awakened by the sun or the light streaming into the bedroom. By contrast, hubster likes living like a mole, shades drawn, no light. How do we compromise? Let there be light!! LOL.

When I purchase a home, I'll figure out the location of my "new" sanctuary and I'll let you know. When? I dunno but it's coming soon, I hope.

By the way, are you in the t.v. industry? I ask because of what you wrote in this post and the way you edit your videos. I'm a t.v. producer myself.
