Been Hair-Lazy and Bunning All Week

Wednesday, July 25, 2012

I've just been wearing my stretched hair in some variation of a bun for work all this week. Yesterday, the section in the front was in a flat twist that I had planned to just keep twisted all week. But my satin scarf slipped off my head while I was sleeping last night so my flat twist was not as neat looking when I woke up (lol).  So I undid the flat twist and decided to just quickly do one chunky twist that I pinned back into the bun (pictured above). I don't really like to use a ton of gel to get that super slicked look when I do buns on dry hair.  And that's because I'm more concerned with how my hair feels after bunning for a week straight - I tend to get lots of product buildup quickly around the edges where I'm usually inclined to slap on the most gel. And I absolutely hate that "gunky product-y" feeling so I try to avoid it.

To give the bun its shape, I rolled a knee-high stocking over a small donut-shaped ponytail holder. There was no particular reason for using the knee-high other than wanting to make the ponytail holder slightly thicker so that the resulting bun shape could be slightly larger and more structured looking than if I were to just form the bun with my hair alone. I really like this simple style because my ends are completely tucked away and protected.

I will probably continue to bun for the remainder of this week since I'm back to feeling hair lazy. Usually hair laziness is a tell-tale sign for me to just do a set of mini twists and take a break from having to do my hair for a week or two (or three). But I can't seem to carve out the hours over a three day period to just suck it up and do them.

Le sigh.
