Twist My Cloud And It Rains...

And when it rains it pours. { - Donnie }
Ever since I hit the six-month mark on my journey back in June, I have been really curious about how my afro would look completely picked out to a huge cloud of hair on top of my head. I picked it out just a little at the beginning of June (see related post), but this weekend I wanted to see how it would look fully combed out. I'm not sure why I wanted to do it, but there is just something fierce and fabulous about an Angela Davis-esque afro that just made me want to attempt it. So since my hair needed a serious detangle anyway, I decided to leave it out for a little after detangling it in sections like I did last week in the pre-poo step of my wash routine. And boy was it HUGE!!! Seriously, I don't know how my parents did this on a regular back in the 60s and 70s when huge fros were the style of choice. For one, it was practically taking over my face - which would be no fun in this summer heat. And for two, I had to constantly keep picking it out to prevent it from tangling on itself too much - which means more manipulation on my hair than I care for and more work for me (uh, no bueno). So will I do this again? Probably not (well, at least not any time soon). But despite those few drawbacks, I did love how it looked!!
