Move Over Aloe Vera, There's A New Gel In Town

Wash and go curly fro with the KMF Upper Management Gel :)
My go-to gel of choice when doing my wash and go routine has always been 100% Aloe Vera Gel (specifically, Fruit of the Earth brand). I love to use Aloe Vera gel because of its simple and PH balanced ingredients list, because it is cheap and I can get it on the ground, and because it easily absorbs into my hair without weighing it down too much, leaving it crunchy, or giving my hair that gross sticky gel-ish feeling that I often get from other protein-heavy gels. I also just rekindled my love affair with Kinky Curly Curling Custard (KCCC), and while it is much pricier than Aloe Vera gel - I love it for the same reasons (and I have learned how to apply KCCC in my hair it so that I don't use more than necessary - I can make a 8oz jar last me a few months).

Enter Kiss My Face Upper Management Gel. I heart this gel!! After spotting this gel on the shelves in the hair section at Whole Foods and then seeing a two of my favorite natural hair youtubers give it rave reviews, I recently decided to try the Upper Management Gel from the Kiss My Face line. I've only used it a few times, but already it has become another favorite of mine - like, on the same level as the Aloe Vera Gel or Kinky Curly Curling Custard. And that's because it shares similar qualities to my other 2 favorite styling gels. The hold and consistency is very similar to Aloe Vera gel and to KCCC, (but this gel smells like grapefruit....yummy!). Like my other two favorites, it also has conditioning and moisturizing ingredients, and is PH balanced. It distributes and absorbs into my hair easily and I don't have to use that much to get the level of definition I usually want when I do wash and gos. And the best thing of all? After I used this gel and my hair dried, it still had movement and was touchable and didn't look or feel like I put a ton of product on my hair (I hate using stylers that leave my hair feeling too "product-y"). It is also pretty cheap if I order it online (I can get an 8oz bottle for $4.79 from vitacost), but I can get it on the ground at Whole Foods for about $8 if I need it in a pinch. This gel will definitely be added into my staple products rotation for sure!

  2. Hey there Anonymous! My apologies - for some strange reason, I wasn't getting comment notifications so I'm just now seeing your comment. I definitely always use a leave-in conditioner under my gel. I can't remember specifically what I used here, but it was probably either Curl Junkie curl rehab or Oyin Honey Hemp conditioner.
